Our whole thing

You didn't see it coming. Or maybe you did and you stayed anyway… because the salary was good, because you were almost vested, or because you kept thinking it would get better.

And then it didn't. Maybe you got the calendar invite with no context and came out 20 minutes later without a job. Maybe you walked out yourself, finally done. Maybe you're still there, but a part of you has already left.

This is Effective Immediately.

A community for people who are done, or on their way, and trying to figure out what comes next. Not the polished version. The real scrappy one. Where you're not sure if your idea is good. Where you're unlearning habits that kept you safe in corporate but won't serve you where you’re going. Where some days feel like possibility and some days feel like "what did I just do." All of the above are allowed here.

Your corporate experience isn't something to recover from and leave behind. It's proof you can operate in hard environments. It's a skill set that, pointed in the right direction, can build something that is yours. That's what we're here to figure out. Together.

Effective Immediately is about moving forward…. on your terms.

What you'll find here:

❋ Practical guidance for what’s next.

Business fundamentals, tool recommendations, honest feedback on your business journey.

❋ Real talk about the emotional side of change.

The grief, the identity crisis, the strange guilt of feeling relieved.

❋ People who get it.

Leaving a team can be difficult, you don’t have to build this thing alone.

❋ NEED HEADLINE

Community Guidelines

This community exists for people navigating the transition out of corporate life, whether that was your choice or not. We're here for the whole journey: this is a place to process and to build. To be honest about where you are without that being the end of the conversation.

What's welcome

  • Venting, as long as it's moving somewhere and doesn’t cross any legal lines*.

  • Quarter- and half-baked business ideas (some of the best ones start here).

  • Honest questions, including the ones that feel embarrassing.

  • Celebrating small wins.

  • Asking for constructive feedback and being ready to hear it.

  • Respect for yourself and others.

What we don't do

  • Stay stuck. Processing is welcome. Spiraling without movement isn't something we'll let go unaddressed.

  • Compare pain. Everyone's version of this is hard. We don't rank it.

  • Pitch. No services, no referral links, no "I know someone who can help" without explicit mod permission.

  • Give unsolicited advice. If someone is venting, ask before problem-solving.

  • Give financial and/or legal advice.

  • Steal each other’s energy or ideas.

  • Use hateful, racist, derogatory or discriminatory language.

  • Share or spam lewd content.

How to show up

  • Be honest. Be specific. Ask before advising. Assume good intent until you have a reason not to.

  • If something feels off, flag it for a moderator. We'd rather know.

  • People here are in real transitions. Treat the space that way.

  • "What I love most is the flexibility. I can go at my own pace, revisit lessons, and keep learning whenever it works for me."

    Former Customer

  • "Even as a total beginner, I never felt lost. The step-by-step structure and encouragement along the way made all the difference."

    Former Customer

  • "This has been such a worthwhile investment in myself."
