For the people who are done waiting for the right time.
The small-business rollercoaster is better with company.
There’s a lot to love about building something of your own: the autonomy, the creativity, the possibility. On the flipside, there’s also the feelings of isolation, the uncertainty, and the hard parts of having total autonomy.
Effective Immediately is a place to meet people who understand both sides of it; people building businesses while also trying to find a healthy balance of relationships, health, hobbies, and rest.
This is a private community, so your participation isn't visible to your LinkedIn network, your employer, or the public.
Come for the support.
Stay for the camaraderie.
It doesn’t matter how far along you are (or if you’re just thinking about getting started). We’re here to make friends, trade resources, share opportunities, find collaborators, and have people to text when something goes very right… or extremely sideways. You might meet:
A corporate employee quietly testing an idea
A future corporate drop-out looking to be inspired
A creative turning a skill into a business
A solopreneur who misses having coworkers
A small business owner looking for collaborators, recommendations, or a fresh perspective
Our community has a wide variety of professionals ranging from operations, design, finance, legal, human resources, researchers, and many more.

Common Questions
Do I need to own a business already?
1
No. You can be contemplating, experimenting, building on the side, newly self-employed, or several years in. The common ground is wanting to balance work and life in more meaningful and intentional ways, with a group of peers that “get it.”
Is this a business course?
2
No. There may be workshops and useful conversations, but there’s no curriculum to complete or prescribed path to follow. The value is in the people you meet and what grows from knowing them.
Can I join while I’m still employed?
3
Yes. The community is private, and your participation isn’t shared with your employer, LinkedIn network, or the public.
What if I mainly want friends who understand this part of my life?
4
That is, quite literally, the point.
What if I’m looking for clients?
5
Relationships, referrals, and collaborations may naturally come from the community, but this isn’t a lead-generation free-for-all. Show up as a person first. It tends to work better anyway.
